Sometimes, the first step toward a better future starts at the kitchen table, staring at a stack of bills and realizing something has to change. That’s where many Kansans begin their Accelerated Opportunity Kansas (AO-K) journey.

AO-K helps adults move forward faster by combining GED preparation with hands-on career training at community and technical colleges across Kansas. Whether you want to start a new career, finish your education, or show your kids what’s possible, AO-K is designed to meet you where you are and help you keep going.

At colleges like Salina Area Technical College, students can earn their high school credentials while training for an in-demand career, supported by a team that believes in their success. Adult education instructors and college faculty work side by side in the classroom, offering the help and encouragement you need to stay on track. Each program includes career advising and coaching, and the State of Kansas covers most of the costs, removing financial barriers that hold people back.

As one AO-K graduate shared, “I didn’t know where I was going or how it would happen. I just knew this is where I needed to start if I ever wanted to change my life.”

If you’re ready to take that first step — to prove to yourself and your family that you can do it — there’s no better time than now.
