Textron Aviation is offering paid apprenticeship opportunities for individuals looking to build long-term, skilled careers in aviation and advanced manufacturing. Apprenticeship options vary year to year and have included Airframe & Powerplant, CNC Machining, Avionics, Industrial Machine Maintenance, and Aircraft Painting. New programs this year are A&P, Paint and Engine Build-up (offered in Independence, KS), and Youth Avionics and Youth A&P. Textron Aviation is offering CNC apprenticeships, focused on precision machining and manufacturing.
These apprenticeships are three-year programs that combine education with hands-on, paid experience. During the first two years, apprentices spend two days per week at technical school—currently through WSU Tech—and three days per week in on-the-job training at Textron Aviation. While learning on the job, apprentices also work toward an associate’s degree, allowing them to graduate with both a credential and real-world experience.
The third year of the program transitions into full-time employment, giving apprentices the opportunity to apply their skills and continue building their careers at Textron Aviation.
The number of apprentices accepted varies each year, with at least 10 participants and recent cohorts growing to 25 apprentices. About half of those accepted are external applicants, while the other half are current Textron Aviation employees.
Applications open once a year beginning in May with interviews held in June, so early planning is important. To get started, applicants should apply through Textron Aviation’s apprenticeship page on their website. Applicants who are accepted will receive guidance from Textron Aviation to enroll in the appropriate WSU Tech courses.
This apprenticeship is an excellent option for individuals who want to earn while they learn, gain a degree, and step into a high-demand career.
